The Opulence Project emerged from a core Skywatchers' value: We believe imagination is resistance, a powerful—essential—tool in advancing our commitment to seeing, believing in, and living from our most authentic selves. These large-scale performance-portraits reveal and reflect the most glorious expression of our humanity, going beyond the constraints of mere survival to thriving. These artworks are celebrations of what we believe are values for the 21st century: curiosity, empathy, poetics, fair housing that’s accessible to all, community care, generosity and others. Whether that’s cooking for your loved ones like the Goddess of Cooking, or making these streets and transit corridors safe for gender queer and trans neighbors and family members like SuperTrans.
Skywatchers’ Towards Opulence recognizes the wisdom that we cannot create what we haven’t yet imagined. As these Skywatchers look beyond the moment and claim their inherent divinity, they are unearthing the sublime.
